The Solar System

From the outside in, the orbits are those of Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, and the four inner planets bunched together near the center. Pluto's orbit is both highly elliptical and inclined to the ecliptic plane of the other planets of our system. All of the Sun's planets orbit in a counterclockwise direction. Pluto requires 248 years to orbit the Sun.

Four satellites launched from Earth, Pioneers 10 and 11, and Voyagers 1 and 2, have passed beyond the orbit of Pluto on their way into interstellar space. There are plans to track Pioneer 10 for perhaps another 15 years, for as long as its nuclear power supply lasts.
